June Updates (VIDEO)
It’s been some time since I’ve made a video, and some SOME time since I’ve done so with any sort of consistency. But we’re back at it and have a lot planned. Not to say it’s all going to work out (in fact, I imagine most of it won’t!) but, what doesn’t work will provide insight. So here we go, on this adventure. Let’s do it!

2019 DragonCon Video Highlight Reel
If you had seen a few months back, I stated that at Dragoncon this year, I would be focused on improving my videography skills. The plan was to bull doze into many new areas in all of pre-production, production AND in post. Specifically I worked on: In-Camera transitions. (see 0:23 the TARDIS to Dcon sign, 0:49 the punch and Phazon Pixie Cosplay’s change in costume, 1:16 the dice to drone shot, and 2:22 the glasses to cosplay photo shoot) Crazy editing effects I’ve never tried before (0:00 with the strobe effect, and the flashing between scenes – also used throughout) This also includes the super fast pace this video took…

Consistency > Perfection with Video
I think it’s a common desire, the elusive “Being Discovered”. The thought goes, “If I put forth this ONE. PERFECT. THING. someone will see it and notice me. I will be whisked away into stardom and fame befitting my awesomeness.” I’m not here to crush all your dreams. There is always that CHANCE. And, there is always a chance that you will score a winning lottery ticket. Or get found as a face fit for a magazine. Maybe you’ll go viral and get featured on “Ellen”. Or something! I’m not saying being discovered is bad or wrong or undesirable. Heck, many big names are big BECAUSE they were “discovered” and…

I’m not cosplaying at Dragon*Con 2019 and here’s why
Last year I went to Dragon*Con 2018 for the first time after being completely jealous on September 3, 2017 when my friends who had went told me all the fun things they had done. When I went last year, I brought costumes with me and during the four days I was there became Regular Sailor Jupiter Punk Sailor Jupiter Lady Loki and Dustin of Stranger Things Why then, am I not cosplaying this year? Feel free to watch the vlog I created on just that. 🙂 Cliff notes version? I want to focus my efforts on creating an epic travel vlog. Boo-yah.

The Netherlands, Spain and Beyond: Travel Blog
As my and Daniel’s trip to Spain draws closer and I must look into accommodations, activities and transportation, I also want to keep in mind what sort of video I want to make! While going through my old blogs to optimize for SEO (no, I did not do anything with that in mind although it would have saved me a bunch of effort) I realized that while I had a before Netherlands and an unboxing after losing my equipment over there, I never did share my travel vlog. Due to belonging to the service “Next Vacay” , Daniel and I got to go to Amsterdam for cheap ($300 a ticket!!!!!)…

It started with a donut…
What did you do to your hand? The short answer is “I punched a wall”, the long answer is a little more embarrassing and a little (okay, a lot) less indicative of anger problems. On a totally nondescript Friday evening, after a productive (I think?) day of work, I was set about to sit down to some episodes of “The Flash”. “Hm, as satisfying as that would be, this could be better…” I thought, as I remembered the few cider mill donuts my husband and I had frozen for later appreciation, as after purchasing them and eating around 6 in a sitting, I didn’t think I could eat another donut…

When you lose your lenses in Amsterdam, you buy new stuff and unbox it online (video)
I mentioned in my last blog that I lost my lenses on my and my husband’s honeymoon/1 year trip to Amsterdam, and that I ordered new stuff and would do an unboxing. Ta da! Done. In this video, we look at a Canon 80D body, Canon 50mm 1.4 lens, Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 lens and a Canon 24mm 2.8 lens. Awesome photographer mentioned: Lauren Lang 80D 50mm Sigma 10-20 3.5 Canon 24mm 2.8 For the record, no one paid me to talk about this stuff – BUT! I’m open to that sort of arrangement. 😉

Thank you 2017, Hello 2018!
One year ago today I launched “Inspired Video Marketing” as my full time gig. (Okay FINE, hecklers, it wasn’t called “Inspired Video Marketing back then). I don’t remember what thoughts I had going into it. What I DO remember is that half of January 1, 2017 was spent on my bed, listening to an audiobook, wondering what the heck I had done in quitting my full time job to pursue video marketing. I remember being scared, I remember needing to go through the “What’s the worst that can happen?” exercise. I also remember being hopeful. We all dream of doing that one thing, of not being beholden to someone else,…

10 Legendary Lessons on Video Chronicling a Legendary Pool
This summer has been a whopper! You all know that after having worked Pool Construction for 3 years while doing Video Marketing part time, I made the leap to video full time January 1 of this year. Somehow this summer I ended up marrying the two and have been chronicling the making of a Legendary Escape these last 4 months. (For info on what a Legendary Escape is, click here) Each day, my cameras, tripods, mics and I would commute or carpool the 1 1/2 hours to this Legendary site and capture the magic unfolding while, yes, helping out as needed. The goal was and is to make…

A Legendary Concrete Pour
It’s a video blog today! Things don’t always go as planned. This was one of them.
