What to Expect in Video Marketing in 2025: Our Predictions

January 14, 2025 by Katie Peterson
Video marketing predictions in 2025 of Inspired Video Marketing Michigan

2025 is here! Can you believe it yet?

While we're still figuring out our New Year's resolutions, the world of video marketing is already evolving but one thing still remains: video marketing is here to stay.

According to LocaliQ, nearly 60% of small businesses are already using short-form video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. This trend is only going to accelerate in 2025.

So, then, what can we expect from video marketing in 2025?

Hanna and Katie had a pow-wow and here's what we think:

1. Short-Form Video Series Getting Bigger

Short-form videos aren't just fleeting moments anymore. Brands are starting to connect these short clips into captivating micro-series. Imagine a 30-second teaser that leads to a series of follow-up videos, each adding a new layer to the story.

This “micro-series” approach allows you to tell more complex stories in bite-sized chunks, keeping your audience hooked. We predict that this will continue into 2025.

2. AI-Powered Video Creation

I’m not coming in here to say that the human touch is irrelevant, but AI tools keep getting better and there are more and more for each part in the video-making process. In 2025, we see this continuing to expand where the most limiting factor is going to be knowing how to use the tools to get the results you’re looking for.

From idea-generation and script-writing to filming and editing, it’s not science fiction anymore. While people are figuring this out, I anticipate seeing some clear examples where AI is being used poorly, but as everything gets better, there will be times we won’t be able to tell when it’s being used at all.

3. SEO for Videos will Still Be Important

While short-form videos are all the rage, don't forget about the power of SEO (Search Engine Optimization if you're just joining the internet and onine marketing game). Making your videos easy to find on search engines is crucial for increasing views. Here are a few tips:

  • Keyword Optimization: Use relevant keywords in your video titles, descriptions, and tags.
  • Video Sitemaps: Submit a video sitemap to search engines to help them index your videos.
  • Platform-Specific Strategies:
      • YouTube: Use eye-catching thumbnails and optimize your video descriptions.
      • Instagram: Write engaging captions and use relevant hashtags.
      • TikTok: Leverage trending sounds, keywords, and hashtags to reach a wider audience.
4. Longer-Form Vertical Video Takes Center Stage

Instagram & Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts are letting us make longer videos. It's a whole new world! Now we can explore topics in more detail, weave intricate narratives, and play with different video styles.

So what does this mean? With longer vertical videos, it’ll be much the same as when horizontal videos were the rage. What changes though, is the format creators are filming in.

You can create and watch in-depth tutorials, captivating documentaries, and engaging vlogs without ever turning your phone… (Katie here saying this is a trend I am NOT in favor of. My expectations are that if the video is vertical, it’s going to be quick and punchy with a fast setup and resolution. When I sit down to watch a horizontal video my expectation is for the content to take its time and I have more patience for the slower pace. But. Reality and Video Marketing Trends are what they are and we adapt!)

5. Shoppable Videos are a Game Changer for E-commerce

Imagine watching a video and being able to purchase products directly from it. Yep, that’s right, you CAN apparently click on products, learn more about them, and make purchases directly from the video.

This eliminates the need to navigate to a separate product page, making the shopping process more efficient and convenient! By making it easier for customers to purchase products, brands can drive more revenue. How cool is that?

6. Video Podcasting is the next big thing

As you saw in the above graphic, 30% of marketers are using or interested in using podcast marketing in their strategy and it’s easy to see why! Video Podcasts are wonderfully efficient.

Does anyone remember the Christmas kid’s book, “Mr Willowby’s Christmas Tree”? The humans cut off the top of their tree to make it fit in their home and toss out the top, where it’s picked up by some animals who bring it to their home but need to cut off the top which is picked up by yet smaller animals etc etc. One tree becomes a centerpiece for many animal families.

Video podcasts give you SO much more to work with. The full video-podcast is shareable on websites like Youtube, the audio is shareable on Spotify/Apple Podcasts etc. Then smaller videos can be made as FAQs or topic videos for your website or social pages or blogs and smaller chunks are shareable as Shorts and Reels and sound-bites.

We’re seeing it now and we bet it’ll continue to grow.

Watching videos on a device

So there we go!

Man, eight years. A lot of it wasn't what I expect Man, eight years. A lot of it wasn't what I expected.

One, I've seen videos with millions of views that did absolutely nothing for a business. I've also seen videos with under 100 views (I think it was more like 12 if I'm remembering correctly) lead to big 'ole sales. It's not about the vanity metrics. It's about the people who actually care, who interact with your content, who trust you. Those are the folks who become your customers and your brand advocates. You want conversions, you want engagement, you want to build trust? Focus on quality but not in the superficial stuff. Give your audience what they want and need from you to help them be successful.

Two, video works best when it's part of your marketing strategy. You can't just throw up a video and expect magic to happen. You need to integrate it with your email marketing, your website, your social media, your sales funnel – everything. It's a whole ecosystem, and video is a crucial part of it.

But here's the biggest lesson I've learned: you don't have to be perfect. You really don't. In fact, trying to be perfect can actually hurt you. People are tired of seeing polished, airbrushed, fake versions of reality. They want realness. They want to see the human behind the brand. It builds trust. And trust is everything.

It's been an incredible journey, and I'm still learning every day.

Just jotted down some of my random thoughts after 8 years in the video marketing biz. If you're into that kind of thing, comment 'BLOG' and I'll send you the link.

Ouch. That's uncomfortable. 😬 If you're not us Ouch. That's uncomfortable. 😬

If you're not using video to showcase your business, you're missing out on a huge opportunity to connect with potential customers and grow your brand. People are scrolling faster than ever, and if you're not popping up with something engaging and moving, you're just a thumb-swipe away from being forgotten.

Plus let's be real, watching a quick video is way easier than reading a novel-length post.

So, if you're ready to ditch the digital dinosaur act and actually get your business seen, comment "VIDEO" below and let's get you started. No more excuses, just straight up, fun, and engaging video content.

So, why is video so effective? Well, Google loves engaging content. Videos keep people on your website longer, signaling to Google that your site is valuable and relevant.

In fact, videos can increase your website's conversion rates by up to 80%! That's because they build trust, showcase your products or services in action, and tell your brand story in a way that resonates.

Do you want that kind of impact for your website?

Honestly, sometimes you just gotta DO THE THING. Honestly, sometimes you just gotta DO THE THING.

No overthinking, no second-guessing, do it and see what happens.

We spend so much time worrying about hypothetical futures that we forget to live in the present. And you know what? Most of the time, things work out way better than we imagine.

Even if it doesn't turn out exactly how you planned, you'll still learn something. You'll gain experience, you'll build resilience, and you'll be one step closer to figuring out what does work.
